Getting Unstuck: How to Remain in God During the Storm

Tips on How to Remain in
God During the Storm

We all go through storms and trials and tests. Sometimes we overcome, but other times we don't. I know there have been times where I was going through trials and tribulations and instead of staying in God and trusting his word, I backslid and tried to find satisfaction in the world.

Spoiler Alert: I did not find it, and neither will you.

Here the good thing about it all. With God we never fail, we will fall, but we will never fail.

Let's get into the tips, but first, I want you guys to remember these things:

God loves you.

God is love. He tells us in His word to trust in His love. I read in my bible about how we should not trust in the law to make us right with God, but in God alone. (Romans 9:30-33)

You Are Saved

Romans 10:9-10 states that "If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved."

When we fall short from God's glory, we tend to think things like "God doesn't love me" or "God is mad at me."

Romans 8:35-37 says, can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

So don't think that your actions can make God not love you. Because our actions are not what make us right with God.

You Are Chosen by God.

In my previous post I wrote about how we are created to be like Christ Jesus, made in the image of our Heavenly Father. He chose us in advance to be holy as He is. Read this passage of Ephesians chapter one.

Do these things:

Read your bible!

God's word is the truth by which we should live. Reading your bible daily is critical because it is how we grow closer to God and get a understanding of His character.

God's word is also a part of the amour we need to put on to stand firm against the attacks of the enemy. Ephesians 6:17 says "Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

When we constantly consume things of the world, that is going to fill us up. But when we continuously fill ourselves with the word of God and obey His commands, the more we become like His son.

Speak God's word over your life

It is easier for us to accept the lies of the enemy when we are having a bad day. If you are feeling unmotivated and discouraged it is going to be harder for you to hear and accept the good things that are true because you do not feel accordingly. That is why we are to walk by faith and not by sight, if you speak the word over our lives during the storm, we will experience the change that we want to see. Praising God in the hard times is a powerful thing that we are all capable of and we all need to learn how to do so.

Dwell in His presence

Simply take the time to step out of your everyday life routine to spend time with God. There is a freedom and an unexplainable peace you receive when you are in His presence. The Holy Spirit will comfort you in your times of trial. Also remember that when you are going through your storm, you are not alone.
